Style is something that is influenced by many things such as functionality, comfort, personal taste, and always changing trends. If you are like us gals here at SalvEdge, you probably look to celebs and fashion icons for ongoing inspiration for how to incorporate the latest trends into your own outfit rotation. This is why we have decided to begin a monthly blog feature that highlights some of our fave celebs’ style and how to recreate these looks for a fraction of the cost.
This month we are looking at the style choices of a lady that has been dominating the news the past few weeks for her bold choice to resign from her royal duties as Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. From a hit TV show to royalty, we have been obsessed with Megan Markle for ages. But what we probably love most about her is her timeless, classy style. And really, who doesn’t want to dress like a modern day princess?
Below we have selected 4 of our favourite Meghan Markle looks and how you can recreate these outfits even without your own royal stylist.
Elegant in Emerald
This look was worn by Meghan at the WellChild Awards this past fall and we absolutely love that it works for either a charity event or a day at the office. The dress is everything we need with its high neckline and bow detail at the waist and it is perfectly paired with a tan wool blend jacket. The best part of this look is that this is the second time we’ve seen Meghan in this dress which means she isn’t afraid of repeating pieces, which we are all about. The cost of this original outfit was well over $2500 but we were able to recreate this look for less than $250! Our style steal features the following items: BB Dakota dress (Size L, $35), Coach trench coat (Size L, $99), Michael Kors bracelet $59, Marc Jacobs heels (38) $50.
It seems the Duchess just like us all can’t resist the comfort of a good jumpsuit. Jumpsuits are great because they are a whole outfit all in one, all you have to do is add accessories. Which is just what Meghan did with this look, this v-neck jumpsuit is accessorized with a simple black pump and a few gorgeous pieces of jewelry. We were able to recreate this look with the Maximillian Jumpsuit from Babaton (Size S, $65 & available in our online store), some earrings from local designer Tish Jewelry and Giuseppe Zanotti Booties (Size 36.5, $199).
We think this is look is great for the weekend when you are running errands but still want to look put together. Meghan reminds us with this outfit why a white button up should be a staple in every girl’s wardrobe. She has dressed down the classic button up with a pair of distressed jeans, brown flats and some slightly oversized sunglasses. We were able to recreate this look with Citizens of Humanity jeans (Size 28, $69), Dolce and Gobbana top (Size M, $89), Franco Sarto flats (Size 7.5, $45), Sunglasses ($22), and Prada bag ($1099). We were able to incorporate a few designer pieces into this look but since these pieces are at consignment prices this look is still completely affordable!
Stunning in Stripes
The final look of Meghan’s we chose to feature is so versatile as you could easily wear from day to night. The choice to wear a dark denim gives this outfit a casual feel but the blazer makes it still completely professional. We also love the black and white colour palette for a classic look that you will be able to wear for years to come and be able to rotate these pieces with ease into other outfits. We recreated this look with the following pieces: Norma Kamali jacket (Size M, $109), Marc by Marc Jacobs Jeans (Size 28 $69), Kate Spade pumps (Size 7.5, $69), C’est Moi Basics Turtleneck, and a Stuart Weitzman bag ($59).
