Victoria Park February Fashion Ambassador: Candace
All clothing and accessories from the Victoria Park location – 1002 Macleod Tr SE. Between City Hall and the Stampede grounds.
1) How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say my personal style is business casual during the week and full on yoga gear on the weekends. I’m a mom of two little children so being comfy is my go to.
2) What influence does fashion have in your every day life?
Fashion influences me to try new things; it pushes me to go outside my comfort zone. I love to add different pieces to my wardrobe monthly, as it dares me to be different, but still myself. I love how a little piece of jewelry or scarf can completely change my look.
3) If you could buy any one item to add to your wardrobe right now (no matter the cost) what would it be?
A Mackage leather jacket! They’re so beautiful!!
4) What tip can you give someone who has not yet experienced consignment shopping?
I’d say go with an open mind, try on lots of things that are bigger and smaller sizes then you’d usually wear. And be pumped at the price tags as they truly are a fraction of the price that you’d see at a retail store.
5) What do you consider the most important essential pieces in a wardrobe?
A great pair of jeans!
6) What do you like about SalvEdge Boutique and consignment shopping?
Oh, hands down the staff! They are so friendly and know their brands and fashion. Usually, when I shop there, I’ll find something amazing and I feel like running out of the store shouting “start the car” LOL, because I scored some great finds and deals!
17th Avenue Fashion Ambassador: Sarah
All clothing and accessories from the 17th Avenue location – 113,1013 17th Avenue SW (across from Cibo)
1) How would you describe your personal style?
I’d say ‘girl next door’, but with a glass of champagne! Classic cuts; looks inspired by Audrey Hepburn. Pieces that are high end, but practical and that I can wear for years to come. Sparkle or a little leopard print is always good, as long as it’s done right! I’m happiest in a dress with a cute pair of shoes. Minimal accessories.
2) What influence does fashion have in your every day life?
I have always loved the creativity of fashion and how one can show their true colours to the world through a single piece. Recently I’ve lost a bunch of weight and am becoming healthier, which is bringing out the confidence I haven’t had since I was…. scratch that…the confidence I’ve never had! Getting healthier has allowed me to wear clothes I wasn’t comfortable in before, and fashion has allowed me to feel more comfortable in my own skin more than ever!
3) If you could buy any one item to add to your wardrobe right now (no matter the cost) what would it be?
A beautiful wool coat from Burberry. I have a huge appreciation for the cuts, the classic styles and the artistry of the work itself.
4) What tip can you give someone who has not yet experienced consignment shopping?
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t find what you’re looking for at the first shop you go to. I think a lot of people think that consignment means worn and tattered. Not so, my friend! You can find some absolutely beautiful items at a fraction of the cost and often find something you didn’t even know you were looking for!
5) What do you consider the most important essential pieces in a wardrobe?
A pair of perfectly fitted jeans, a leather jacket and great shoes.
6) What’s your favourite piece that you bought consignment shopping?
A Nordstrom leather jacket – biker style. It goes with (almost) everything, getting me from work to the weekend like a rock star!
7) What do you like about SalvEdge Boutique and consignment shopping?
You can typically find whatever specific type or style of piece you’re looking for. The staff are always so helpful and the items you can find are mind-blowing. SalvEdge does such a great job of providing quality pieces while still keeping the price at a realistic level (after all, we aren’t all Kim K.).
